Unpopular Theological Truths

I want to begin by sharing this FB statement by Vaughn Clark yesterday:

Something really big spiritually this way comes....got any unfinished business with God? For the record, I ask forgiveness from anyone I have ever hurt or disappointed or sinned against. I am sorry for the things I should have done that God told me to do or that common sense dictated that messed up His Plans and the lives of other folks. I am sorry for the things I did He told me not to do that messed up His Plans and the lives of other people. I forgive everyone I can think of that has ever offended or hurt me. I pray for the Blood of Jesus to cleanse me and all I have affected from all loss and sorrow.

This has been heavy on my heart today. This next month of the Jewish calendar is something in the Spirit, and I am not up on this, but know it deeply in my inner man. The world is about to change.

We all need to be just as right as we know how to be.

Jesus Christ taught His disciples concerning the time of the latter day. He spoke in depth in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and in Luke 21. Turn to Luke 21.

Luke 21:20 NKJV

"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

Luke 21:27, 28 NKJV

27 "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Today, more than ever before, we must stand in our faith. In order to do that, we must know what our faith is. We also need to express our faith for this is why we have been created.

This past Wednesday evening Perry Lovin shared a very informative message with us which dealt with 7 unpopular Biblical truths. This morning I would like to continue with some of those same thoughts and add to the foundation which has already been laid. It is necessary for us to have an understanding of these truths in order to be able to move forward in the faith.

1. Bible

2. Hell

3. Demons

4. Marriage

5. Repentance

6. Holiness

7. Trinity

In August of 1966, I packed my bags into my 1957 Pink Chrysler Saratoga and left Shippensburg, Pennsylvania far behind as I traveled to East Providence, Rhode Island. There in East Providence I was to spend the next three years gaining an education by using the Bible as the main textbook. The first class brought the first assignment. That assignment remains to this day as the foundation for all of the Biblical truths I share with you.

We were given one week to prepare a paper titled, “Why I believe the Bible is the Infallible Word of God.” In essence we had to make the choice that God’s Word was total truth or if it was fallible.

As Perry ministered on Wednesday, he used the Bible as his first point. I also want to begin by using it as my first point because we must know where our authority comes from..

DEFINITION OF THE BIBLE: The Bible is a collection of 66 books called the Canon of the scriptures written by about 40 authors, in three different languages, on three different continents, over approximately 1600 years. The Bible is inspired and inerrant. This means the Bible is the Word of God and that it is without error in everything it addresses.

The Bible describes the origin of man in the Garden of Eden along with his fall into sin and out of fellowship with God. It then describes how God called out a special people to Himself, the Israelites. He promised the Israelites a future Messiah who would restore mankind's relationship with God. The Bible is the account of the work of God in history bringing to fruition His prophetic declarations concerning Jesus. Jesus was born of the Virgin, died on the cross, and paid for sins, just as the Bible prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New.

Once we believe the Bible is the Word of God, we then have many other considerations to make. The second thing I would like to address deals with the invisible.

THERE ARE THINGS WHICH ARE INVISIBLE

Colossians 1:15,16 NKJV

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Romans 1:20-22 NKJV

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,

1 Timothy 1:17 NKJV

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
