Sin Issues

6 PROPHETIC INSIGHTS FOR THE BALANCE 0F 2013

1. God’s presence is going to invade our lives in a new and powerful dimension

2. God is going to bring His people into awe and wonder and worship

3. A new fire and fervency in the Holy Spirit is going to cause many to become bold witnesses

4. A new fire of evangelism will burn in the hearts of many in the Church

5. Get ready for God’s floodgates to open

6. True and genuine repentance is coming to the Church

          A. Repentance means remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin.

B. God is calling many to the examination of their own heart. Today we are seeing our own heart. We are not acting judgmental any longer. We are finding as we view our heart, it humbles us.

          C. Our sorrow is now Godly sorrow and repentance. It is not just lip service.

Today I want to share a message that is generally unpopular because it deals with the carnal side of man. It deals with not doing things which you often would want to do. It deals with having to keep your flesh under control. It deals with the integrity of your heart before God. I want to deal with Sin Issues.

On Wednesday night Keith Irick brought to my attention the fact that we need to hear some messages which are often unpopular because they touch on the humanity of man. Sometimes it is good to hear a message where you get “your toes stepped on.”

However, today my purpose is not to step on your toes. My purpose is to follow through with the authority of being a Pastor. Today, I am going to be a Pastor who speaks toward the well being of the congregation and those who we have contact with through mechanisms of both verbal and mass communication. We are going to learn about sin today.

The word sin appears in the KJV 447 times in 388 verses.

James 4:17 NKJV - Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

NLT - Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

NIV - Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

NCV - Anyone who knows the right thing to do, but does not do it, is sinning.

Only one of two (2) things will happen to you:

Romans 6:23 NKJV - For 1) the wages of sin is death, but 2) the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:12-14 NKJV

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

I wanted to title this message, “Does this dress make me look fat?” Then, I realized we had to talk about more sin than just lying.

Revelation 21:8 NKJV - "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NKJV

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,

10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:3-5 NKJV

3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Colossians 3:5-9 NKJV

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,

7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,

EXAMINE YOURSELF

1 Corinthians 11:27-31 NKJV

27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.

HOW SHOULD WE LIVE?

Ephesians 4:25-32 NKJV

25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.

26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

27 nor give place to the devil.

28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

WHAT IS THE END RESULT?

Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV

3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

4 "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
